With so many possibilities it will not be easy for you to choose a trail. In order to make the decision easier for you in your hiking holidays in Pertisau we give you an overview of our favourite hiking tours around lake Achensee and your hiking hotel:
Hiking trails for leisurely hikers and true mountain lovers
Hike to the Feilkopf or: Pertisau’s balcony
The Feilkopf is the ideal mountain for everyone who wants to go up high but is not well trained when it comes to mountaineering. This hike is one of the easier ones in the Karwendel mountains and therefore also a wonderful experience for families. We also recommend to stop by the Feilalm hut for a culinary break and enjoy the excellent view from the hut.
Hike to the Bärenkopf:
The hike to the Bärenkopf is of medium difficulty and begins in Pertisau. You also have the possibility to go up to the Zwölferkopf on 1,500 metres with the Karwendel mountain cable car and start from the top station. The more difficult part of the ascent begins at the Bärenbadalm over a narrow and somewhat more slippery trail, bend after bend further up. After the forest we will reach a landscape of mountain pines and calcareous grasslands. Further up the trail runs around rock faces. The most difficult parts are secured with steel cables. As soon as you have reached the summit you will forget all the strains when viewing lake Achensee and the Rofan.
In the distance you can see as far as the main Alpine ridge with the Ötztal Alps, Zillertal Alps and Hohe Tauern. For a little break in between, the Bärenbadalm hut is a great place to stop for a bite to eat.
Along lake Achensee with no fear of heights
For the path to the Gaisalm you also need a few skills. The hiking path begins rather easy but also includes very narrow paths and steep slopes. But as biking and mountain biking is forbidden here you can hike along the lake undisturbed. In summer you should absolutely plan a little extra time for a swim in one of the beautiful bays. Our tip: Instead of going the same way back we recommend to take the ship over lake Achensee.
Hike to the Seebergspitze & Seekarspitze
The Seebergspitze is one of the more difficult tours during hiking around Pertisau. There are no via ferratas to complete, but the hike is still relatively difficult. With the very narrow hiking trails and the steep slopes, a head for heights is required. But once you reach the top of the Seebergspitze, your heart will beat faster. The impressive 360° panorama offers a unique view of the surrounding mountains and lake Achensee. Our tip for those who are hungry for summits: 2 summits in 1 - a round tour over the Pasillsattel high up to the Seebergspitze and over the Seekarspitze down to Achenkirch, back with the ship.
Hike to the Dalfazalm:
The probably most beautiful hike at lake Achensee leads to the serviced Dalfazalm on 1,692 metres above sea level in the Rofan mountains. Those who like it easier can take the Ronfanseilbahn for the first part of the way. From the top station a panoramic trail leads to the alpine hut. The somewhat longer and steeper hike from Eben, however, will lead you to a special highlight: the Dalfaz waterfall! On the viewing platform you can comfortably enjoy the impressive view of the waterfall
Continue on the steeply ascending path to the Dalfazalm, where you can enjoy the grandiose view of Lake Achensee after about 2 hours of walking.
Mountain tour to the Seekarspitze:
The Seekarspitze lies on the northwest shore of lake Achensee and at the eastern boundary of the Karwendel mountains. The view from the summit of the Seekarspitze is spectacular, but you have to earn it. The upper part of the mountain tour is very rocky and there are a few easy climbing passages. Surefootedness is an absolute must.
The hike begins on a steep forest road where you follow the signs to the Seekarspitze and Seekaralm. The path is partly steep and a few short passages require climbing skills. But the path is well signposted and easy to find. The path often leads along the ridge. After a total of 3 hours you reach the summit and can delight in the 360° panoramic view. In the east you can see the Rofan mountains, in the west the Karwendel and below the wonderful lake Achensee.

Round tour Astenau - Ebner Joch - Buchaueralm
The Ebner Joch (1,957 m) is a great panoramic summit with a view of lake Achensee, the Rofan, the Karwendel and the Inn valley. It can be reached via the mountain restaurant Astenau-Alpe which lies quite in the middle of the tour and is about 1 hour from the summit. On the way back you take the Huber path to the Buchaueralm hut (friends of the family) where a soup or a homemade cake taste especially good.
Insider tip - the Rappenspitze (you can see the summit from our sun terrace)
The Rappenspitze (2,223m) definitely belongs to the lonelier destinations in the Karwendel. Although the easy trail is often quite steep, it is also rich in variety and views. And the untouched nature and the very beautiful view of many well-known Karwendel peaks (Hochnissl, Hahnkamplspitze, Sonnjoch, Schaufel- & Bettlerkarspitze) and lake Achensee make the Rappenspitze a super hike. Hikers with good physical condition can also optionally cross the peak and make a big round trip.
Hochiss
The summit of the Hochiss (2,299 m) is the highest point of the Rofan mountains, the western part of the Brandenberg alps. This proud panoramic summit can be reached very easily from Maurach am Achensee with the Rofan cable car. However, the circular tour presented here via the Dalfazalm offers sufficient physical activity and variety despite the cable car support. The alpine environment and a few tricky spots give the hike on the Hochiss the right touch, the summit view rounds off this enjoyable tour!
Rofanspitze
The Rofanspitze (2,259 m) is probably the best known peak in the scenically extremely interesting Rofan Mountains - even if it is only the third highest. Thanks to the Rofan cable car, the summit can be reached within a short and easy hike and is therefore very suitable for a family trip. The panorama is unparalleled in fine weather and the many alpine lakes which you will pass on the ascent and descent will invite you to cool down on hot days!
Sonnjoch
The Sonnjoch (2,457m) definitely belongs to the most popular classics in the Karwendel. The tour is relatively long and has several metres of altitude, but the long ridge towards the peak and the grandiose view will definitely be worth it. Moreover, the summit can be reached without climbing on good paths – although partly slippery. In summer, the summit is visited by many hikers, in late autumn the summit can be quite deserted. In every season a great tour with a spectacular panorama!
Gufferthütte
The Gufferthütte (1,475 m), which is serviced from May to mid-October, is a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers. It lies between the Halserspitze and the Guffert, and even if you can only see a small corner of the Guffert from the hut it nevertheless offers a beautiful far view from the indoor area as well as from the terrace. The surrounding alps are also very beautiful and rustic! Ascent & descent are absolutely problem-free on a wide forest path. The trail runs through the great gorge of the Upper Ampelsbach/Filzmoosbach always along an informative geological trail with several information signs and details about rock strata. The trail climbs only moderately and even tolerates all-terrain strollers. Great hike for the whole family and young & old!
