Cross-country skiing at lake Achensee: Competence from A-Z

Lake Achensee is part of one of the biggest cross-country ski regions in Tyrol: the whole region is dedicated to this sport. Numerous ski schools not also offer courses for alpine skiing, but also cross-country ski courses, and the sports shops will advise you with competence when it comes to renting or buying the right equipment. The cross-country ski trails are maintained and refreshed everyday by the municipalities. Part of it can even be additionally covered with artificial snow in winter.

Our favourite cross-country ski trails around Pertisau:

Village track Pertisau – Classic & skating:

Discover our village on the cross-country skis! The trail starts at the beginning of the Karwendel valleys and runs to the Fischergut farm at the shore of the lake (slight gradient). Over the snowy white meadows you will reach the village centre of Pertisau, past the church. From here on you will go back to the starting point. The village track is particularly popular to access the greater cross-country network.

Falzthurn – Gramai: Classic & skating:

Cross-country skiing in the wonderful natural surroundings of the Karwendel valleys: The average-difficulty track with 14 km length leads into the valley and runs through the forest until it reaches the serviced Falzthurn hut. On the way back you will have to master a descent. This cross-country ski track boasts a very beautiful landscape and requires strength, endurance and technique. It is recommended for well trained beginners and advanced skiers. These tracks are also suitable for adaptive cross-country skiing.

Pletzach – Gern: Classic & skating:

The medium trail to the Gerntal valley is mainly characterised by a wonderful change between several plane passages and short ascents. In the beginning, the cross-country ski track leads through the forest, then towards the Pletzachalm hut (serviced) and from here, slightly ascending, along the stream towards the Gern Alm hut (serviced). The cross-country ski trail has a slight gradient and is perfectly suitable for beginners and advanced athletes.

Tristenautal valley-round

The black trails starts on the area of the golf club Achensee and then, always ascending through the forest to the end of the idyllic Tristenautal. For advanced and trained skiers.

Dog trail in Pertisau:

You want to spend your winter holidays at lake Achensee with your dog and yet go cross-country skiing? No problem – in Pertisau, cross-country skiers will find an own dog trail where your four-legged friend can accompany you. The dog trail is about 2 km long and lies only a few minutes from our hotel in Pertisau.

Adaptive cross-country skiing in Pertisau and at lake Achensee

In the top cross-country ski region Achensee, people with reduced mobility also have the possibility to go cross-country skiing. No less than 8 barrier-free cross-country ski trails will await you with a total of 46 kilometres. Specially trained instructors of the ski & cross-country ski school Pertisau will make the start easy. The easy trail in Pertisau will enable beginners to start their adventure.

Fees for the cross-country ski trails at lake Achensee

A fee needs to be paid for the cross-country ski trails to the Karwendel valleys and on the training trail. Guests of our hotel in Pertisau will receive the popular AchenseeCard. With the guest card, the use of the trails mentioned above will be free. On the virtual map of the region you can view the different trails in the region incl. information about classic/skating, level of difficulty, track as well as the kilometres.

Achensee cross-country skiing camp

It is one of the healthiest sports of all: cross-country skiing not only promotes endurance, but is also a perfect full-body workout, as almost all muscle groups are used during cross-country skiing. In addition, there is the fresh winter air - and there is also a lot of beauty for the eyes as you glide through the snow-covered winter landscape on your narrow skis.

Whether classic cross-country skiing or skating: the Achensee cross-country skiing camps are the right place for anyone wanting to learn cross-country skiing or get back into cross-country skiing after a break. In addition to an introduction to the basic techniques of cross-country skiing, the camps also offer tips on equipment, waxing and technique, and you will even learn about proper nutrition. And of course there is also a cosy part, with relaxed chats or a stop-off together on the mountain pasture.

The Achensee cross-country skiing camps took place from 12 January to 14 January 2024 (classic) and from 19 January to 21 January 2024 (skating).
