Climbing in the

Challenges in the vertical
Expert routes and family climbing experiences
The Rofan and the Karwendel mountains are classified as hotspots in the world of climbing. 8 modern via ferratas and classic routes will offer crisp adventures at the naked rock. Climbing gardens for advanced climbers as well as for families and an unperilous high-ropes course will round off the climbing offers at Lake Achensee. Because climbing, or “kraxeln”, as we say in Tyrol, is simply fun.
Climbing in the Rofan mountains
The Rofan mountains are said to be a gem for hikers, mountaineers and climbers. Gentle, lush green meadows at the South side alternate with the craggy, up to 400 metres high North rock faces of the Rosskopf and the Seekarlspitze. The perfect limestone around Lake Achensee is characterised by a non-slip quality which makes climbers revel. Here everyone can climb to their heart’s content: single- and multiple rope routes in different levels of difficulty to via ferratas to climbing gardens and boulders. From the experienced alpinist to the beginner, everyone will find something for their taste.
Climbing in the Karwendel mountains
The almost endless cirques and walls in the Karwendel mountains have been fascinating climbers since the earliest times. The area around the Lamsenjochhütte which functions as a central base will offer impressive walls which reach up 400 metres into the sky. Several classic alpine routes alternate with modern alpine sports routes. Dreamlike rocks paired with alpine ambience will make the climbers’ hearts beat faster here in Tyrol.
Via ferratas
Via ferratas will offer a simpler alternative to climbing routes. On well secured paths, even occasional climbers will move safely through the rock, provided that the necessary basic equipment, surefootedness and head for heights is of course given. Step by step you will strive towards the summit, always with the dreamlike view of Lake Achensee in front of your eyes.
Climbing gardens will offer the ideal training ground and are also fun for families with children. Around Lake Achensee you will find the climbing gardens Grubaplatte, Grubastiege, Mauritzalm and Platzl.
Forest high-ropes course
The climbing experience for all age groups. Those who want to try mountain air and look for a fun, active excursion destination will love the forest high-ropes course.
You don’t need any climbing experience here and thanks to the different parcours there is also no age or body height restriction. On platforms, suspension bridges, balancing paths and rope slides, big and small guests can prove their courage and skills. To have a safe feeling you will receive a short training before you enter the parcours.
